STILL IN THE GREEN MOUNTAINS, Vermont – No truth to the rumor that Shots was placed in the FOX NewsChannel witness protection after some of the over-zealous O’Reilly zealots finally found “Hull” on a map.
But we have been in seclusion and the feeling here is that ex-Catamount mentor,Tom Brennan, his (All-World PR Guy) Bruce Bosley and the rest of the Green Team should be randomly tested for being on the “Pine Tree Juice.” We’ve been here eight days and we’re so incredibly joyful and beyond bitter (even better), you’d think they were slipping mickies in the Green Mountain coffee we’ve been swilling instead of that Dunkie’s crap. This, not Disney, is the happiest place on Earth. And it has the freshest air, to boot. We’ve been slightly removed from the buzz of it all and it’s safe to say that live does go on – despite my early skepticism – even without daily web-surfing and over-immersion in all things sports. It was reminiscent of the grueling assignment where we once went a full, mid-NFL season week, without any sports of any kind.

But we’re coming back and we’re coming back full throttle with a special Final Four Saturday of blogging from the home office at the Seaside Shanty. It marks Shots’ first FF miss since the Minutemen swam in the swamps of Jersey, but probably not the last. (We’re gonna reserve our trips for warm weather cities and/or teams of interest – or so we say.)

Instead of daily recaps from the site like we offered last year, we’ll give bumper-to-bumper updates beginning an hour before Saturday’s first tip, through both games.

Sunday night will be a special “SOX BLOG WITH SHOTS” during the opener on The Deuce. And, Monday night we’ll go ‘on-air’ and begin blogging when Seth Davis appears (once again proving our uncanny resemblance to the future Senator).
It won’t quite be the on-scene action where some drunk screams out to Bill Raftery: “Hey Digger!”, but we’re sure to offer up better accompaniment than the dreadful Billy Packer has during this stretch of hoops.

We’d ask one thing, and it’s what we ask with each day’s entries: tell two friends about Scott’s Shots. Give them the link. Whisper it in their ear.

Anything. Just find me some more readers.

See you Saturday afternoon. Until then – I’m off to find Ben, Jerry and a final, frothy pint of Long Trail.
