• Our local football mavens, Kevin Mannix and Ron Borges are 1-1 and 0-2 respectively with the first two picks. Which only goes to show how damn foolish the pick predictions can really be.
The Baze called in to see if we had swept for the hoometz yet and we spent 2 minutes and 51 seconds trying to explain what “blogging” is. It’s Yiddish, I told him. “Yiddish for what?” Web logging, I told him. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
My Buddy Paulie Brookline stopped by with Tandee after the Hull Earth day Info Fest at the MJM Grand bath house. When Romeo Crennel got on the video-conference, MBPB said: “Oooh, we’ve never seen him speak.” Hater.
Didn’t even bring me a coffee – MBPB went to Earth Day and all I got was a lousy pinwheel, a pen from Keyspan and Keyspan thermostat magnet. Marketing tchotchkes and no sustenance.
• Young Percy the Dog is currently on the clock for his afternoon walk.
• The NFL Network just isn’t ready to do what ESPN does for the draft. But they can pick and choose and be useful in future years. They can let ESPN do the nuts and bolts and maybe try and Page 2ize the Draft from behind the scenes. It will all evolve and is just one more reason why the NFL’s future is more solid than any other pro league, bar none.
Nephew Jake chimed in from the Sharon Chateau where he’s monitoring the Draft from his perch high above Aztec Way. He’s hoping to get credit for his “Pope Eggs Benedict” line from back on Wednesday. No credit for you!
• Who keeps ringing the bell and when will they stop? Enough with the Wall Street theme. We get it. Money, money, money. . .
• Instead of a Pope joke, we’ll hit you with a religion curveball and ask you, on this the first Seder Night, How can you possibly Pass Over Cedric Benson beyond the first six?
• World Champions Referee Rodney and V as in Vrabel held their own in the Mold Pizza studios with Andrea K.
• We sent in a email to Mel Kiper asking if the Draft actually means anything anymore. Think he’ll answer that one on-air?
• How about a little love for our BSM weekend guy, BPerson? The guy’s bringing weekend programming to the site and pushing the interactive envelope by asking for feedback. Toss him some thoughts and let’s watch what kind of a weekend forum we can get rolling.
• Anyone else a bit put off by Paul Pierce’s comments to the effect of:
“I could see myself here next year. But you never know.” Huh?
Pierce does understand that Dealer Danny will trade everything up to and maybe including, the numbers in the rafters, if he can get LeBron in Green, doesn’t he? I would take two steps back to get the 30 steps ahead that BronBron promises. No one on this team is untouchable and it’s been that way since Bird departed.
• Tom Condon in the role of the sleazy agent in the green room was great casting by ESPN. What? This isn’t an Original Entertainment production?
• Korn and Wilby should be in New York and doing twice-hourly PTI spots for two minutes or so, each. It would be priceless and worth watching.
