• By the way, this is the first press conference run by a major league club, in the history of modern media, that started exactly on time. Doc Chuck’s fingerprints are all over it, and we should probably give some love to John Blake as well.

• WEEI 850 AM has stayed with the presser throughout, according to our brief moment of listening just before 5:30 p.m. Often, we’re guessing, the Japanese answers are making more sense than the entire Big Show has made in the past year.

• Jackie MacMullan - a newfound strawberry blond - was competing against both Dice-K and Jay Mariotti over at “Around the Horn.” Jackie Mack wuz robbed when Tony Reali gave JayMar the win. But Dice-K beat ‘em both, handily.

• “PTI” is an All-Road Show affair with Tony Kornheiser STILL in St. Louis and Michael Wilbon fogged in, in Miami. Dice-K doesn’t even make the first run-down of stories, some ten deep. Just another indication of how overboard we’ve gone here in Boston over this signing.
