• This National Treasure thing is starting to stick - are you thinking what I’m thinking? Mike Dee has already started his magic work. The double entendre National Treasure (now used at least twice by Theo) speaks to the Nation of Japan and the Nation of Red Sox.
Geniuses. They’re freaking geniuses.
• Dice-K now has about 100 minutes to get to the Garden to drop the first puck. Jerry Remy had joked earlier on NESN, that he hopes Matsuzaka doesn’t get cheked to the ice.
• And yes, this will officially be the first time a Japanese national has seen a Bruins hockey game.
Come on, we kid because we blog. The Bruins fans are a melting pot of (Southie) people.
• So we know that Dice-K already has a Nike tie-in, what aother products can we expect him to shill while in a Sox uniform? Dunkies is one natural. Maybe Curt can teach him about Iced Coffee - or Dice-K could shave his head in a bet he loses to Theo. Huh? Already used?
An electronics giant is a slam dunk - especially one fo the many with a good Asian base already in place, like Nikon, perhaps.
• Gordon Edes played the role of a company man and tried kindly to get John Henry involved in the presser and sure enough, JohnHen deflected the question to Theo and Larry.
• It appears NECN, too, has stayed with the entire presser. Admriable, indeed.
• Closing comments for the new Japanese Members of Red Sox nation are being delivered by Lucchino-San and again included the National Treasure buzz phrase. He’s basically earned favored son status in the Land of the Rising Son right up to when he tried to welcome them to Sox nation.
• Henry saved his best for last with his “Be Bold” riff. Good closing for the Silent man.
• We’ve got one more post in us and then it’s time to de-Dice-K with a long hot shower.
