• We are currently on hold (with some nice jazz music) for the teleconference announcement of Entercom’s new radio three-man radio team that will broadcast Red Sox games on the new flagship of Red Sox baseball, WRKO 680 AM.
There are “two parties in conference” currently and the leader has not yet activated this conference, the kind recorded voice has informed me.
• We gave you all we had on Dave O’Brien (scroll down), here is what we know about Glenn Geffner, a Northwestern alum and the ex-PR director for the Sox, who was profiled here in the school’s Alumni Magazine and also here (scroll down).
He was the announcer for The University of Rochester Red Wings from 1994-96, according to this prior release.
• Boston.com announced this teleconference (posted by the ubiquitous and anonymous ‘dotcom’) would be taking place and credited “reports” with mentioning Steve Lyons and Dave O’Brien as candidates. You can be damn sure those reports didn’t come out of the Globe’s family.
We don’t need credit, and we understand how these things work, but we find it hard to believe that if a mainstream organization had mentioned O’Brien during the wekk, that Boston.com wouldn’t have given due credit.
But that’s how they operate over there and they have to live with themselves.
