FORT MYERS, FL. - Manny’s here, as you know, and Gordon Edes of the Globe has been a MannyBlogging Maniac since the Holy One touched done. Also, recently arrived Michael Silverman of the Herald is being thrown into the fire right away as well.
Just before 10:45, Manny and Wily Mo Pena walked together to Field 5, where they will likely begin taking batting practice in the next few minutes. J.D. Drew followed shortly thereafter. The majority of the morning’s large crowd was on the back field, so only a handful of fans were able to see Ramirez and Pena head toward the Funai Tent field - we’re taking over-unders on the first time Manny hits the Funai Tent, if you’re interested.
. . . Some new media faces have shuttled in, including Jackie MacMullan, Sean McAdam (who said he’s here now for the duration) and Silverman.
. . . The big news of the day would have been Dice-K’s BP session, but now it will play second fiddle (in the states, anyway) to Manny Day. However, there’s another good sign for the Sox, as Roush racing got its first win of the season on Sunday, making John Henry a winner on the track, as well.
. . . MLB Productions is in Camp with its roving RV and its crew was getting sights and sounds of the day, hanging out with Johnny Pesky near famed Field Five.
. . . We’ve got myriad responsibilities to tackle before departing, so we’ll have to check back later in the afternoon or early evening. We’re sort of guessing the other usual suspects (especially Edes) will keep you filled with Manny and Dice-K stories.
