Just a quickie to give everyone the official word on the completion of FSN New England becoming a wholly-owned Comcast unit.
We’re guessing the immediate impact locally will be negligible, but Comcast-owned CN8 is definitely a sports-heavy network and the affiliation with FSNNE could be a boon for both in the long run.
The one caveat is that the combining of resources could eventually result in some trimming back of space and people in the long run. But that wouldn’t happen overnight.
The story first started gaining traction during Spring Training this year and at the time, talent and techs from both networks in Ft. Myers were very much in the dark about the move and what it could mean. With the announcement becoming official, there should be some clarity brought to the deal in the coming days. Shots will effort information on the deal throughout the week for our regular Friday post.
