In an absolute shocker, the Globe’s embattled sportswriter Ron Borges has announced his retirement from the newspaper.

The brief announcement was posted at the Globe website sometime late in the afternoon on Friday. A message for Borges on his cell phone went unreturned.

Shots will have more on the Borges “retirement” later tonight (Friday).
