Not quite sure what the criticism of WEEI was, but did you happen to notice the WEEI sales execs prominently displayed on the Herald's wraparound cover of the parade? Maybe it is all about WEEI...

The problem with Max is that when he started doing color for the Celtics broadcast, the team was more or less a joke, from the on-court product to the 500-watt broadcast. Max was a character. The more entertaining he could be, the more people might listen, if not for the game's outcome, then perhaps for its presentation.

Now that the on-court product is championship-caliber, combined with the strength and reach of WEEI's signal, more attention is drawn to the broadcasts. I don't think he's the worst play-by-play or color guy in the business, but in my opinion, he does not sound very professional. The most mind-numbingly bad might have been the "look out behind you" warning to Pierce against the Pistons. Some folks (i.e. Remy) are good at mixing humor and insight in their color commentary. Max is perhaps the worst in our market at it.

I would assert, after listening to him on the radio and watching him on Comcast, that Donny Marshall would be a tremendous upgrade.

Couldn't agree more about Cornbread. He is horrible. For an ex-player he brings no valuable insight to the broadcast. He is just a buffoon. A personality. There has to be better out there somewhere.

Shouldn't your remarks about Greg Dickerson have a big asterisk with them? He's the sideline reporter for the team's network. They are contractually obligated to have access to the players. In fact, if you watched their coverage, you'd see them all hand delivered by Celtics PR.

The comments about WBZ-TV were not entirely accurate. When they signed off on 4 they announced that live coverage was continuing on TV38, and they went to the wee hours also.
