Shaughnessy was coming back to the Boulevard with a hefty expense report and not a whole lot to show for it. He needed to 'create' some 'big news' but no one bit on his trial balloon and the whole thing died a quick death. Still, he's got that expense report to turn in...which probably equates to weekly pay for, oh, four or five now-jettisoned Globe employees.

I'm saddened by the loss of a viable alternative to the Big Show (although the Big Show has been somewhat better of late). I say that even though I thought Felger was just a notch better than Ordway. My biggest problem with both of them is an inability to accept anyone else's opinion as being correct. Even when they joke about it, they still act as if they know better. I've heard Lew and Mike on 1510. They are what they are- a couple of somewhat knowledgable guys who had the money needed to buy their way onto radio and, by a stroke of good fortune, a paying gig. Truth is, you can go to almost any bar in the Greater Boston area and find guys with the same (if not better) knowledge base; the difference is that L & M had the money and time to buy their way onto the airwaves. Oh well. I guess I can always listen to music

I've been listening to the Lew & Mike show on 1510 for the past year, and they aren't bad. They talk sports, and seem to like sports, which is something D&C stopped doing long ago. I switch between them & Opie & anthony for my morning drive, so i'm a little pissed that my morning selection has just been reduced.

The only good thing about the 890 realignment is that it keeps Halloran off of 'EEI.

Good stuff Dave, hope you keep this Monday column going. Glad you mentioned that the NBC olympic announcers are disclosing their NY location, I immediately picked up on that while watching a game over the weekend.

I preferred Costas conducting that interview because he is more than capable of asking the right questions, which he did given the time constraints. That's probably why he didn't bring up anything about the Saturday stabbing.

Don't get me started on Shaughnessy. I wonder how much he gets compensated to stay out in LA and do that show for a whole week? The Dodgers had already left for a road trip and he was still out there "filing stories".

Regarding Lew & Mike: I don't believe they were the hosts of 890's Celtics postgame show last season, those were a couple of other guys. L&M are essentially two sportstalk callers-turned radio hosts. I actually find them to be a refreshing morning alternative to EEI and will miss them in that time slot, but good for them getting a real paid radio gig.

And for those of us who can't get to a set during the day, we'd appreciate a review of those new SportsCenter shows. Glad to see Hannah Storm is back working in TV sports again.

I'm a little confused on the "NFL’s comprehensive on-line ticket selling outift"......first off, I'm on the Patriots Season Ticket waiting list, so I can use their TICKET EXCHANGE....The great thing about it was tickets could ONLY BE SOLD AT FACE VALUE....In the USA article it says, "people can now set their own prices".....the other thing is, can ANYBODY use the service?.....If so, I'll get back my $100 bucks, that I paid to get on the waiting list.......(I don't really want season tickets, I just wanted to use the Ticket exchange, for selct games, playoff games etc..etc..
