Shotts dunno who's feeding you the pay cut stuff but to quote Butchie "we're not so sure abou that..." The (house paper?) Herald sure doesnt make it seem like he failed to get DnC Money... U should have stuck to your July prognostication that he would indeed cha-ching.

Not saying its a day to rejoice - 5 more years of contrived controversies and louder = better - but clearly the market has spoke.

Herald reports that Ordway is to sign for 5 years at $1 million per year to return to WEEI (he'll be back on today). WEEI.com video streaming and a video simulcast at either Comcast Sports or NESN could be part of the deal.

Regarding this - "ALSO, From what I can gather, a good deal of the radio guys aren’t very receptive to being “used” on the web without compensation. Pretty ludicrous from a crew that should just be happy to be employed at all."

It's one thing if you don't like some or all of the radio guys, but it's another to think it's so unreasonable that the same folks would just roll over and forgo additional compensation to do more work for something the station will use to promote site traffic. But if you think that's the right thing then perhaps you think all the dot-com guys should be doing their radio shifts for free? If the people in question were those you considered a valuable asset to the station then I imagine you'd write something like "I hope WEEI is properly compensating him for all the great contributions he makes to the website, over and above his on air work."

I usually agree with Shots 100% of the time, from the God-awful Stammering Steve Burton to the even worse (is it possible?) Butchie Stearns. I must, however, part company on the criticism of Tom Ellis. First of all, he was on NECN for Christsakes, one small step up from your local town cable access channel! I think they do one new 1/2 hour newscast at midnight each day and repeat it 46 times. The presence of a veteran dean like Ellis elevates and gives a modicum of credibility to NECN, and to the likes of juvenile, D-list celebrity Chris Collins and the freeloading (ask the restaurateurs at Marina Bay) Arthur Kukiawicz aka Chet Curtis. Ellis was a class act and a comforting presence on the weekend anchor desk, sandwiched between infomercials. At age 76, Ellis had and still has more credibility and standing than any of the six main weeknight anchors at 4,5,7 including Lisa Headfake Hughes, Ego Ed Harding and Ran-d.w.i. Price. Tommy, we hardly knew ye! Come back soon, you are missed.

I totally agree with the Shotty for Gil and Gino. I can't stand listening to their constant mistakes. I had the misfortune of listening to the Pats-Cardinals game a couple of weeks ago and had to listen to them tell me the Cardinals were from St. Louis! Just the latest in many gaffes by these clueless, out of touch bozos. Time to go!

I'll second - make that third - the motion re: Sheppard. If I want rude and arrogant hosting, I'll dial up Jim Rome. At least Rome isn't ignorant and has some independent thought. I'm really sick of every outside-the-box caller getting blown up for presenting ideas that aren't first espoused by local pundits [and, no, I've never called the show before]. Despite all the resources at Sheppard's disposal, he lives in a vacuum and seems shocked by stories he reads on the Flash that actually came out the morning - or evening - before.

I completely agree with you on Pete Sheppard and his cohorts. 2 PM - 5 PM on WEEI has become unlistenable.
