Why do you hate on the Big Show so much? It’s not meant to be intelligent or thoughtful. Ordway got paid because the show is entertaining. I’m sure that’s what he’d tell you as well.

I totally agree with you when it comes to the big show. Most days I cant stand to listen to these guys talk because they are either yelling over each other or talking down to their listeners. Can someone please tell me why Butch Stearns even belongs on that station? I guess this is why even though I am a diehard Boston fan, I will listen to WFAN in the afternoon because at least Francesa knows what he is talking about 99% of the time. How would this afternoon show be…Felger, Lou Merloni, and rotate any football guy in there on football season?

The Big Show receives the ratings it does because there is no viable option out there (please, don’t mention Lou and Mike). As bad as Felger was most of the time on ESPN890, he was at least an option. I’ve no doubt that if there were a well funded, well marketing option to most of the shows on EEI (I personally only care for Dale and Holley and that may be because I only listen to them once or twice a month), EEI’s ratings would be in the toilet so fast Entercom wouldn’t know what hit it.

You seem to be consumed with your disdain for The Big Show and its participants. If you look at the ratings there are numerous people that disagree with you.That neither makes you right or them wrong. While Sheppard, Fred & Steve and the others may not be your taste in Radio they appeal to others.

I think it may be time for you to lighten up and accept that Shots does not rule the sports world.

Happy new year Dave,

I realize you’re not back here full time, but a small bit of news you might want to look into is what’s going on at WODS/Oldies103.3 FM this week. Rumored for some time to be considered for an FM sportsradio format, the station has begun playing what they call their ‘encyclopedia of music’, which includes a lot of tunes I don’t think they’ve played on the air in a long time. Usually when a station does something like this it signals some type of format change coming, but I wonder if another sportsradio station is even a viable option now that Ordway is staying at ‘EEI.

WODS and WBZ are both owned by CBS Radio so I guess they could move the Bruins to FM as part of a sportsradio format, but they would still need a big name host in morning and/or afternoon drive to make any kind of headway vs. WEEI.
